Public consultation process

The Sustainable Agriculture Network follows the guidelines necessary to guarantee the transparency of the public consultation process. The adjustments to the standards documents meet the codes of good practice for standards development of the ISEAL Alliance.

The comments received during the public consultation processes are evaluated by the Sustainable Agriculture Network’s International Standards Committee (ISC). The role of the ISC is to develop or modify the contents of the international SAN standards based on the inputs provided by stakeholders.

Learn more about standards development in the workflow diagram.

The public consultation process for the Sustainable Agriculture Network’s  Standard for Sustainable Cattle Production Systems  is made up of two 60-day commenting periods. The SAN and its members will be organizing Consultation Workshops in their respective countries in order to receive additional inputs.

SCHEDULE FOR PUBLIC CONSULTATION PERIODS:

First round of public consultation August 10 – October 10, 2009
Second round of public consultation January 11 – March 11, 2010

The comments from the first round of public consultation were evaluated by the ISC during its last meeting in November 2009. The adjustments had been incorporated in the SAN Standard for Sustainable Cattle Production Systems already submitted to the second round of public consultation.
