IMAFLORA- Finalist for the Schwab Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurs

IMAFLORA, one of the SAN´s founding member organizations, is among the finalists of the Schwab Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurs in Brazil. The award is organized in many countries of the world and the Schwab Foundation works with media and corporate partners to search and select the most accomplished social entrepreneurs every year. This year Brazil received the most applicants in the world for the participating countries, and four finalists were selected in the country among 335 applicants representing different areas of civil society.   


IMAFLORA is represented by Luís Fernando Guedes Pinto, an agronomist with a PhD in Crop Sciences, who joined the organization in 1996. He supported the launch of agricultural program activities for the organization and acted as Imaflora´s Executive Director from 2005 to 2010. As such, he served on the SAN Board of Directors until 2010 and represented the SAN and Rainforest Alliance on the ISEAL Alliance Board of Directors. Luís Fernando has been a long-time supporter and active member of the SAN. He participated in the creation and strengthening of the Network since he joined IMAFLORA, and even participated in the first network meetings in 1997.
